'Shazam!' by Duane reached number 4 in the UK singles chat in 1960 and was the first 45rpm single I ever bought with my own saved up pocket money. Gary Watson, my oldest friend with whom I used to "go the Cavern" in the 60s. Gary was a member of The Ox and Hurle's Jinks who regularly played The Cavern in the mid to late 60s and have bricks bearing their name in The Wall Of Fame on Mathew Street in Liverpool. It was Bob Wooler who gave them their first booking when, as The Ox they supported Lee Dorsey in 1966. Gary played a Hofner violin bass in those days.
